Carburize, Quench and Temper, Heat Treating
Without reservation, the key to providing a top quality roll product in in-plant heat treating. In-plant heat treatment can provide you with the hardness and wear resistance you want for your steel roll products. Carburizing, Quench and temper, and heat treating steel rolls to increase strength, eliminate roll distortion, and maintain consistency of mechanical properties for each steel roll.
Carburizing Heat Treatment Advantages
Our vertical and horizontal furnaces are the core of Bonell’s unique advantage. Our furnaces enable us to achieve the hardness and surface carbon content outcomes that has made us a trusted roll manufacturer for over 70 years.
The Bonell Difference for Carburizing, Quench and Temper, Heat Treatment
- We perform our own carburizing and heat treating in-house with our 18 ft. vertical and horizontal furnaces with computer temperature control.
- These furnaces are used primarily for deep-case carburizing and quench-tempering.
- We can expand very large sleeves to close tolerances. These heat shrink-fit procedures allow us to make exceptional re-sleeves, bringing undersized rolls back to print size or making new.
- Ideal for harsh environments/heavy-duty use
Our heat-treating process is followed by an oil, brine, or air quench and temper. This is dependent upon the material type and desired properties of the finished roll.
Carburizing Furnace Specifications
- Vertical carburizing furnaces are 5’ in diameter and 18’ deep.
- Quench tanks are 11,000 gallons.
Industrial Uses for Carburized rolls
